Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan or an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
