Description
A hearty one-skillet dinner made with browned sausage, fluffy rice, sweet bell peppers, onion, garlic, and warm spices. It is comforting, colorful, and perfect for a quick family meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces sliced sausage
- 1 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 cup diced bell pepper
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the olive oil and sliced sausage, then cook until lightly browned.
- Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables soften and become fragrant.
- Stir in the uncooked rice, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Cover the skillet and cook for 18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from the heat, fluff the rice gently, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Serve warm straight from the skillet.
Notes
- Brown the sausage well for deeper flavor.
- Do not stir the rice too often while it cooks, so it stays fluffy.
- If the rice needs a little more time, add a small splash of broth and cover again for a few minutes.
- Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
