Description

Crispy golden tofu cubes tossed in a glossy sesame soy glaze with garlic and ginger, finished with toasted sesame seeds and fresh green onions. A quick, flavor-packed plant-based dinner that is perfect over rice.

  • 14 ounces extra firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
  3. Toss the tofu cubes gently with cornstarch until lightly coated on all sides.
  4. Add olive oil to the skillet, then arrange the tofu in a single layer without overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden and crisp.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu.
  7. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the tofu before serving.

Notes

  • Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes for best texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure crisp edges.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of chili flakes to the sauce.
  • Serve over freshly cooked jasmine or brown rice for a complete meal.
