Description

Shrimps in Culichi Salsa is a flavorful Mexican seafood dish featuring succulent shrimp marinated and cooked in a tangy, smoky Culichi salsa made from tomatillos, chili peppers, and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tomatillos, husked and rinsed
  • 2 serrano peppers (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup white onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine tomatillos, serrano peppers, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth to make the Culichi salsa.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  4. Pour the Culichi salsa over the shrimp, stirring to coat evenly.
  5. Simmer for 3–5 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with extra cilantro and lime wedges.

Notes

  • Adjust serrano peppers according to your spice preference.
  • Serve with warm tortillas or rice for a complete meal.
  • Use fresh tomatillos for the best flavor.
