Description

Smoked Sausage Mac and Cheese Pasta is a creamy, cheesy comfort food dish packed with smoky sausage slices and tender pasta. It’s a hearty, satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni or pasta of choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
  5. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add cooked pasta and sausage to the sauce, stirring until well coated and heated through.
  7. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot.

  • Use spicy smoked sausage for extra kick.
  • Can be baked with a breadcrumb topping for a crispy finish.
