Description

Spicy shrimp tacos loaded with juicy, seasoned shrimp and topped with a refreshing garlic cilantro lime slaw. A zesty, satisfying meal that’s quick and easy to whip up for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 cup red cabbage, finely shredded
  • Juice from 2 fresh limes
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn tortillas

Instructions

  1. Warm a skillet over medium-high heat while prepping the shrimp.
  2. In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the seasoned shrimp to the hot skillet and cook for 2 minutes on each side until pink and lightly seared. Remove from heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cabbage, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Toss until well coated.
  5. Briefly toast tortillas in the same skillet or directly over a gas burner until lightly charred.
  6. Spoon slaw into each tortilla, top with shrimp, and a final squeeze of lime if desired.
  7. Serve immediately while warm and fresh.

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice for the best tangy flavor.
  • Let shrimp rest in seasoning before cooking to absorb flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp, they become rubbery quickly.
  • Pre-shredded coleslaw mix can save time.
