Description

Steak and Queso Rice is a flavorful one-pan dish featuring tender, seasoned steak strips served over rice and smothered in creamy, melty queso. A comforting and satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup queso dip (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional, for garnish)
  • Lime wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the steak slices with olive oil, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let sit for 10 minutes (optional for extra flavor).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 3–5 minutes, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat.
  3. Warm the queso in a microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan until hot and pourable.
  4. Divide the cooked rice among plates or bowls.
  5. Top each portion with steak, drizzle with warm queso, and garnish with cilantro and tomatoes if desired.
  6. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
