- 250g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter (plus extra as needed)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Lingonberry jam (for serving)
- Mashed potatoes (for serving)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef, ground pork, egg, onion, garlic, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add butter. Form meatballs and brown them in batches. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt a bit more butter if needed. Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth and simmer until slightly thickened.
- Stir in heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet.
- Simmer for 10–12 minutes until meatballs are fully cooked and sauce is rich.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam.
Notes
- Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized meatballs.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan while browning.
- Make the meatballs a day ahead to save time.
- Cranberry sauce can replace lingonberry jam if needed.
