Description
Sweet Heat Pickles are a bold, tangy, and spicy twist on traditional pickles. With the perfect balance of sweetness and a spicy kick, these pickles are ideal for snacking, burgers, or adding zip to charcuterie boards.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (32 oz) jar sliced dill pickles, drained and juice reserved
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup reserved pickle juice
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional: 1–2 fresh jalapeños, sliced (for extra heat)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the drained pickle slices, sugar, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and jalapeño slices if using.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of the reserved pickle juice and stir everything well to combine.
- Transfer the mixture back into the original pickle jar or an airtight container.
- Seal and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, shaking the jar occasionally to redistribute flavors.
- For best results, let them sit for 3–5 days to intensify the flavor.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes and jalapeños based on your spice tolerance.
- Use bread and butter pickles instead of dill for a milder flavor base.
- Perfect as a sandwich topper, BBQ side, or a spicy gift in a mason jar.
