Description

A fast and flavorful Thai-inspired chicken dish made with savory garlic sauce, fresh basil, and spicy chilies, served over warm jasmine rice for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 packed cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 fresh red chilies, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil
  • 3 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar until combined.
  3. Add the cooking oil to the skillet. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced chilies, then cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground chicken and cook while breaking it apart until fully browned and cooked through.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and stir well. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce becomes glossy and slightly thickened.
  6. Turn off the heat and fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves until wilted.
  7. Serve immediately over warm jasmine rice with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add additional sliced chilies.
  • Fresh Thai basil gives the best authentic flavor.
  • Do not overcook the basil or it may lose its aroma.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
