Description

Tender baked salmon fillets coated in a smoky chili spice rub with caramelized edges and bright lemon flavor. This easy oven-baked seafood dinner is bold, juicy, and perfect for busy weeknights or relaxed family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar.
  3. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet and pat dry gently.
  4. Brush the salmon with olive oil and coat evenly with the spice mixture.
  5. Arrange lemon slices around the salmon fillets.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the edges are lightly caramelized.
  7. Remove from the oven, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon, and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the salmon to keep it tender and juicy.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the spice blend.
  • Fresh lemon juice adds the best flavor right before serving.
  • Leftover salmon works beautifully in salads, wraps, or grain bowls.
