- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
- 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, parsley, and chives.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a rectangle.
- Fold the dough several times to create flaky layers, then pat to 1 inch thickness.
- Cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush warm biscuits with melted butter and serve immediately.
Notes
- Keep the butter cold for flaky layers.
- Do not overmix the dough or the biscuits may become dense.
- Freshly shredded cheese melts better than packaged shredded cheese.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
