Description

Flaky, buttery cheddar herb biscuits packed with sharp cheddar cheese and fresh herbs, baked until golden brown and brushed with melted butter for the perfect savory side.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, parsley, and chives.
  5. Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a rectangle.
  7. Fold the dough several times to create flaky layers, then pat to 1 inch thickness.
  8. Cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush warm biscuits with melted butter and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Keep the butter cold for flaky layers.
  • Do not overmix the dough or the biscuits may become dense.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts better than packaged shredded cheese.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
