Description

Soft, chewy sugar cookies infused with citrus zest, floral Earl Grey tea, and sweet caramelized white chocolate. A cozy twist on classic cookies with layers of texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons loose Earl Grey tea leaves
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramelized white chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and orange zest. Stir in the Earl Grey tea leaves.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the caramelized white chocolate chunks.
  6. Use a cookie scoop to place dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances flavor and reduces spreading.
  • Caramelize white chocolate by baking at 250°F, stirring every 10 minutes until golden.
  • Store cookies with a slice of bread to keep them soft longer.
  • Orange zest can be swapped for lemon or grapefruit zest for variation.
