Description
Soft, chewy sugar cookies infused with citrus zest, floral Earl Grey tea, and sweet caramelized white chocolate. A cozy twist on classic cookies with layers of texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons loose Earl Grey tea leaves
- Zest of 1 large orange
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup caramelized white chocolate chunks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and orange zest. Stir in the Earl Grey tea leaves.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the caramelized white chocolate chunks.
- Use a cookie scoop to place dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances flavor and reduces spreading.
- Caramelize white chocolate by baking at 250°F, stirring every 10 minutes until golden.
- Store cookies with a slice of bread to keep them soft longer.
- Orange zest can be swapped for lemon or grapefruit zest for variation.
