- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup coconut cream
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 beaten egg for egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking tray.
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Mix coconut cream, shredded coconut, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Divide dough into equal portions, flatten slightly, add filling, seal, and shape into buns.
- Place buns on prepared tray and let rise again for 20 minutes.
- Brush buns with egg wash.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
- Use warm milk, not hot milk, for proper yeast activation.
- Do not overfill the buns to avoid leaking during baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for softness.
- Serve slightly warm for the best creamy texture.
