Description

A rich and comforting baked casserole filled with tender turkey, earthy mushrooms, creamy potatoes, and melted mozzarella cheese in a velvety savory sauce. Perfect for cozy family dinners and delicious leftovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds turkey breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 12 ounces whole mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Add diced onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and sliced mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms release moisture and become golden.
  4. Add turkey pieces, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook until turkey is lightly browned.
  5. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Spoon the turkey and mushroom mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Pour chicken broth and heavy cream evenly over the casserole.
  8. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese over the filling.
  9. Layer remaining potato slices on top and finish with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until potatoes are tender and top is golden.
  12. Let casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  13. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Slice potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Allow the casserole to rest before serving so the sauce thickens properly.
  • You can prepare the casserole ahead and refrigerate before baking.
