Description

Crunchy taco shells filled with juicy seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and fresh cilantro for the ultimate taco night dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 10 crispy taco shells
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F if warming the taco shells.
  2. In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  5. Stir the seasoning mixture into the beef along with tomato sauce and water. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until thickened and flavorful.
  6. Warm taco shells in the oven for 5 minutes until crisp.
  7. Fill each taco shell with seasoned beef, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.
  8. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Notes

  • Warm the taco shells before filling to help prevent cracking.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts better and tastes richer.
  • Add sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
  • Store leftover beef separately from toppings to keep everything fresh.
