Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. In another bowl mix eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Slowly mix in the hot water and fold in the semi sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool completely on a cooling rack before slicing or frosting.
