Flavorful Persian chicken kabobs marinated in aromatic spices and grilled to juicy perfection. A classic Middle Eastern dish that’s perfect for gatherings or a delicious family meal.

- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into cubes
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Wooden or metal skewers (if wooden, soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, paprika, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Add chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well to coat evenly.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.
- Grill the kabobs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve with saffron rice or flatbread and grilled vegetables.
- Adding a pinch of sumac or fresh herbs like parsley or mint on top enhances the flavor.
- If you don’t have a grill, cook in a hot oven broiler or skillet.
