Description

The Philly Cheesesteak Grilled Cheese Burrito is a fusion comfort food that combines the savory flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the melty goodness of a grilled cheese and the portability of a burrito. It’s loaded with seasoned beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and lots of cheese, all wrapped and toasted to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin preferred)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add sliced beef and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  3. Return the sautéed veggies to the skillet and mix with the beef. Remove from heat.
  4. Lay out a tortilla and sprinkle a mix of cheeses in the center. Add a generous scoop of the beef and pepper mixture on top, then add more cheese.
  5. Fold the sides and roll the tortilla tightly into a burrito shape.
  6. Heat butter in a clean skillet over medium-low heat. Place the burrito seam side down and grill until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Repeat with remaining burritos. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can use deli roast beef as a shortcut.
  • Try adding mushrooms for more umami flavor.
  • Serve with a side of cheese sauce or ranch for dipping.
