Description

A refreshing Southern-inspired iced tea infused with sweet cherries, balanced with bright lemon and smooth black tea for a drink that tastes like a slice of cherry pie in a glass.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh sweet cherries, pitted
  • 3 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 4 cups water, divided

Instructions

  1. Place a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add cherries and 2 cups of water to the saucepan.
  3. Simmer gently for 10 minutes until cherries soften.
  4. Lightly mash the cherries and strain the liquid into a pitcher.
  5. Add tea bags to the pitcher and pour in 2 cups of hot water, then steep for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove tea bags and stir in sugar until fully dissolved.
  7. Add lemon slices and mix gently.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator or serve over ice.

Notes

  • Use ripe cherries for the best flavor and color.
  • Do not over-steep the tea to avoid bitterness.
