Description

Creamy butter chicken and rice cooked together in one comforting skillet with tender chicken, fluffy rice, warm spices, and a rich buttery sauce that makes every bite cozy and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 ½ cups uncooked long grain white rice
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat a large deep skillet over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  2. Season the chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, paprika, cumin, and turmeric.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until lightly browned.
  5. Stir in the rice, tomato sauce, and chicken broth until well combined.
  6. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 18 to 20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  7. Stir in the remaining butter and heavy cream. Cook uncovered for 2 to 3 minutes until creamy.
  8. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use warm chicken broth for more even cooking.
  • Add a splash of broth when reheating to keep the rice creamy.
  • Fresh parsley added at the end brightens the rich buttery flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
