- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 brioche buns
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 8 pickle slices
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium low heat and cook the onions with butter and olive oil for about 25 minutes until golden and caramelized.
- Season the ground beef with salt and black pepper and shape into 4 patties.
- Cook the patties in a skillet or grill pan over medium high heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side.
- Add cheddar cheese during the final minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast the brioche buns lightly.
- Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the buns.
- Layer lettuce, burger patties, caramelized onions, and pickles onto the buns.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Cook onions slowly for the best sweetness and flavor.
- Do not press the patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
- Prepare the onions ahead of time for quicker assembly.
