Description

A soft and fluffy sourdough sandwich bread with a light golden crust and a tender, airy crumb, perfect for everyday sandwiches and toast.


Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • ½ cup active sourdough starter
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, milk, and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add bread flour and salt, then mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and slightly elastic.
  4. Gradually incorporate the softened butter and continue kneading until fully absorbed.
  5. Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan.
  7. Let it rise again until it puffs up and fills the pan.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for about 30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the pan and let cool on a rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Make sure your sourdough starter is active and bubbly for best results
  • Do not rush the rising time to achieve a soft texture
  • Brush the top with butter after baking for extra softness
  • Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing
